      HostMouse
SpecificityRecognizes the mature form and truncated forms of gC1q-R/p33 complement receptor. Antibody is directed against the carboxyl-terminus of the receptor (residues 204-218), a portion of the molecule specifies interaction with HK and Factor XII and blocks binding of HK to gC1q-R.

      Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryThe protein encoded by this gene is a cell-surface glycoprotein and type I membrane protein that was originally identified as a myeloid cell-specific marker. The encoded protein was once thought to be a receptor for C1q, but now is thought to instead be involved in intercellular adhesion and in the clearance of apoptotic cells. The intracellular cytoplasmic tail of this protein has been found to interact with moesin, a protein known to play a role in linking transmembrane proteins to the cytoskeleton and in the remodelling of the cytoskeleton.

      UniProt Number
UniProt SummaryComplement component 1 Q subcomponent-binding protein, mitochondrial (UniProt: Q07021: also known as SF/SF2-associated protein p32, Glycoprotein gC1qBP, C1qBP, Hyaluronan-binding protein 1, Mitochondrial matrix protein p32, gC1q-R protein, p33) is encoded by the C1QBP (also known as GC1QBP, HABP1, SF2P32) gene (Gene ID: 708) in human. C1qBP is a multifunctional and multi-compartmental homotrimeric protein that is involved in inflammation and infection processes. It is also reported to play a role in ribosome biogenesis, regulation of apoptosis, transcriptional regulation and pre-mRNA splicing. C1qBP is synthesized with a transit peptide (aa 1-73) that is required for its mitochondrial localization. It is expressed on cell surface of peripheral blood cells and its expression is enhanced upon platelet and monocyte activation. It serves as a putative receptor for C1q and specifically binds to the globular "heads" of C1q thus inhibiting C1 activity. Its C1q binding region is localized to amino acids 76-93. Its receptor function is through a complex with C1qR/CD93. In complex with cytokeratin-1/KRT1, it also acts as a high affinity receptor for kininogen-1/HMWK. The secreted form of C1qBP is reported to enhance both extrinsic and intrinsic coagulation pathways.
