DescriptionProtein A purified rabbit polyclonal antibody. Recognizes the ~67 kDa GTAP protein.
BackgroundThe modification of proteins with ubiquitin is an important cellular mechanism for targeting abnormal or short-lived proteins for degradation. Ubiquitination involves at least three classes of enzymes: ubiquitin-activating enzymes (E1s), ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes (E2s), and ubiquitin-protein ligases (E3s). GTAP is a member of the E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family. GTAP may participate in intercellular adhesion and embryonic development. GTAP is thought to play a role in stem cell development via its regulation of laminin-dependent embryonic cell adhesion and the formation of embryoid bodies.
