      Revision13-August-2007 RFH
      ApplicationDirect Immunoassay (1:10,000)
DescriptionNative protein A from Staphylococcus aureus conjugated to horseradish peroxidase.
BackgroundProtein A is the universal secondary antibody because it binds to the Fc portions of most immunoglobulin classes. It is a versatile and economic means to isolate, detect and purify antibodies produced by many animals. It is especially useful in immunohistochemical studies because, unlike secondary antibodies, it does not bind to cell Fc receptors and therefore will not give high background reactions.
