Recombinant, mouse betacellulin (BTC) cinsisting of amino acids 32-118 and expressed in E. coli. Mouse BTC is 93% identical to the amino acid sequence of rat and 79% with that of human. BTC, a heparin-binding protein, is expressed in tissues such as uterus, liver, pancreas, and kidney and promotes pancreatic beta-cell growth and differentiation. Also known as a potent mitogen for retinal pigment epithelial cells, fibroblasts, and vascular smooth muscle cells.
