      DescriptionAnti-Lunapark Antibody
      Alternate Names
      • Protein lunapark
      • Ulnaless
Background InformationProtein lunapark (UniProt Q9C0E8; also known as Ulnaless) is encoded by the LNP (also known as KIAA1715) gene (Gene ID 80856) in human. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) consists of a polygonal network of sheets and tubules interconnected by three-way junctions that undergoes continual remodeling through two competing processes. The branching and fusion of tubules lead to the formation of new three-way junctions and polygons, while junction sliding and ring closure lead to polygon loss. Both yeast Lnp1 and mammalian lunapark (mLnp1) are reported to play an important role in the maintenance of ER morphology through junctions stabilization. Study conducted in COS-7 cells demonstrated that junctions with lunapark are less mobile than junctions lacking lunapark. New junctions acquired lunapark tend to remain stable within the ER network, whereas the nascent junctions that fail to acquire lunapark preferentially undergo ring closure.
