      Applications
ApplicationAnti-AANAT Antibody is an antibody against AANAT for use in WB.
      Key Applications
      • Western Blotting
Application NotesWestern Blot: 1:10,000-1:20,000 using ECL. Reacts with the ~23 kDa AANAT protein. Some reactivity may also be seen at ~97 kDa. Suggested blocking buffer is PBS with 10% non fat dry milk and 0.2% Tween-20. Suggested dilution buffer is PBS with 1 mg/mL BSA fraction V. Suggested incubation time is overnight at room temperature (~23°C).

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.
      Biological Information
ImmunogenSynthetic peptide (phosphorylated) corresponding to amino acids near the N-terminous of rat AANAT conjugated to BSA. {Ganguly, S et al, 2005}.
      HostRabbit
SpecificityRecognizes AANAT (Arylalkylamine N-acetyltransferase). The antibody specifically recognizes the phosphorylated N-terminal PKA site of AANAT (pT31) (Ganguly et al. 2005). The antibody reacts with natural and recombinant protein.

      Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryArylalkylamine N-acetyltransferase belongs to the superfamily of acetyltransferases. It is the penultimate enzyme in melatonin synthesis and controls the night/day rhythm in melatonin production in the vertebrate pineal gland. Melatonin is essential for seasonal reproduction, modulates the function of the circadian clock in the suprachiasmatic nucleus, and influences activity and sleep. This enzyme is rapidly inactivated when animals are exposed to light at night. This protein is 80% identical to sheep and rat AA-NAT. Arylalkylamine N-acetyltransferase may contribute a multifactorial genetic diseases such as altered behavior in sleep/wake cycle.
