Recombinant, human estrogen receptor-α expressed in S. frugiperda insect cells. A hormone-inducible transcription factor that can positively or negatively regulate expression of many genes involved in tissue growth and differentiation. ER-α is essential for induction of the oxytocin receptor by estrogen. Activated ER-α is involved in the modulation of transcription triggered by AP-1. Provided in a soluble, functionally-active form. Binds to estradiol (Kd = 300 pM) and to a fluorescein-labeled estrogen response element (ERE; Kd = 10 nM). Suitable for in vitro transcription assays.
