DescriptionProtein A purified rabbit polyclonal antibody. Recognizes the ~32 kDa ICMT protein.
BackgroundIsoprenylcysteine methyl transferase (ICMT) is an enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of methyl groups to the C-terminal prenylated cysteine in Ras family proteins and other related signaling proteins. This methylation is necessary for proper membrane targeting and transforming capability of Ras. Small molecule inhibition of ICMT results in mislocalization of Ras, imparied signaling through Ras pathways, and blocking of anchorage-independent growth in specific colon cancer cell lines.
