CFlm25 is a homodimeric protein that is a component of the cleavage factor Im (CFIm) complex, which plays a key role in pre-mRNA 3'-processing. It is involved in association with CPSF6 or CPSF7 in pre-MRNA 3'-end poly(A) site cleavage and poly(A) addition. The interaction of CFlm25 with the RNA is one of the earliest steps in the assembly of the 3' end processing complex and facilitates the recruitment of other processing factors. It contains one Nudix hydrolase domain (aa 76-201). The region containing aa 2-147 is considered to be essential for RNA-binding. It can be acetylated by p300/CBP and acetylation results in a reduction in its interaction with Poly(A) polymerase alpha (PAPAO).
