DescriptionAnti-MEIOB Antibody
Alternate Names
  • Meiosis-specific with OB domain-containing protein
  • Protein expressed in male leptotene and zygotene spermatocytes 675
  • MLZ-675
Background InformationMEIOB is a single stranded binding protein required for proper homologous recombination in meiosis I. MEIOB is required for proper DNA strand repair at double strand breaks and faithful synapsis of the chromosomes. MEIOB is also required for successful completion of meiotic recombination and is part of a multiprotein complex with RPA2 and SPATA22 proteins. MEIOB is expressed in the gonads and specifically in ovary and testis starting at the 14th weeks post fertilization. MEIOB is also expressed in a variety of tumors but not in other tissues other than testis and ovary. Because of its unique expression MEIOB is being examined as a possible anti-cancer autoimmune agent.
