DescriptionPurified mouse monoclonal antibody. Recognizes the ~11 kDa Noxa protein.
BackgroundNoxa, a BH3 member of the Bcl-2 family, has recently been identified in human and mouse. Expression of the Noxa gene involves direct activation of its promoter by p53. Increased expression of Noxa occurs in normal thymocytes, but does not occur in p53-deficient thymocytes. Coimmunoprecipitation data suggests that Noxa may interact with other members of the Bcl-2 family, including Bcl-XL and Mcl-1. Data has also shown that blocking the endogenous Noxa induction results in the suppression of apoptosis. Treating cells with Noxa antisense oligonucleotides blocks radiation-induced apoptosis, and this suggests that Noxa may be a mediator of p53-dependent apoptosis.
