Mixture of isoleucine and valine isomers. Highly toxic polypeptide. Acts specifically on Na+ channel in excitable membranes, affecting neuromuscular transmission and mammalian heart muscle function. Augments Na+-dependent increase in twitch response and the duration of action potential. Has a positive inotropic effect on the heart.
