DescriptionImmunoaffinity purified rabbit polyclonal antibody. Recognizes the ~90 kDa (apparent MW) MDM2 protein phosphorylated at Ser166.
BackgroundMDM2 is an ubiquitin ligase that plays a central role in the regulation of p53. MDM2 is phosphorylated on Ser166 and Ser186 by ATM. This phosphorylation of MDM2 increases its interactions with p300 allowing the assembly of the protein complex necessary for MDM2-mediated ubiquitination and degradation of p53. Phosphorylation of MDM2 also blocks its binding to p19ARF, which contributes to an increase in the degradation of p53.
