Description
OverviewAn esterase-sensitive and cell permeable, O2-acetoxymethylated diazeniumdiolate that acts as an intracellular nitric oxide (NO) donor (1.83 mol of NO/mol). Shown to induce apoptosis and to act as an antiproliferative agent in NO-sensitive human leukemia HL-60 (IC50 = 8.3 µM) and U937 (IC50 = 53 µM) cell lines. Also suppresses oxidized low-density lipoprotein-induced caspase-3 activation in bovine aortic endothelial cells. Exhibits enhanced stability in physiological buffers. May also be useful for temporal and spatial controlled NO availability.

DescriptionA cell-permeable O2-acetoxymethylated diazeniumdiolate that donates nitric oxide (NO) following the action of intracellular esterases (1.83 mol of NO/mol). Shown to induce apoptosis and act as an antiproliferative agent in NO-sensitive human leukemia HL-60 (IC50 = 8.3 µM) and U937 (IC50 = 53 µM) cell lines. Also suppresses oxidized low-density lipoprotein-induced caspase-3 activation (~5 µM) in bovine aortic endothelial cells. Useful for temporal and spatial controlled NO availability.
