DescriptionAnti-TGIF2 Antibody
Alternate Names
  • TGFB-induced factor homeobox 2
  • transcription growth factor-beta-induced factor 2
Background InformationTGIF2 (TGFbeta-induced transcription factor 2) is a homeobox protein that represses transcription by directly binding the DNA sequence 5'-CTGTCAA-3' or by interacting with the transcriptional modulator SMAD3. TGIF2 also is thought to repress transcription via the recruitment of histone deacetylase proteins. TGIF2 is phosphorylated in response to EGF signaling by the Ras/MAPK pathway. TGIF2 is amplified and overexpressed in several ovarian cancer cell lines.

Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryThe protein encoded by this gene is a DNA-binding homeobox protein and a transcriptional repressor.

The encoded protein appears to repress transcription by recruiting histone deacetylases to TGFbeta-responsive genes. This gene is amplified and overexpressed in some ovarian cancers, and mutations in this gene can cause holoprosencephaly.
Purification MethodImmunoAffinity Purified
UniProt Number
UniProt SummaryTranscription factor that controls the expression of the TH1 cytokine, interferon-gamma. Initiates TH1 lineage development from naive TH precursor cells both by activating TH1 genetic programs and by repressing the opposing TH2 programs.
