DescriptionImmunoaffinity purified rabbit polyclonal antibody. Recognizes nitrotyrosine-containing proteins.
BackgroundNitric oxide (NO) is a product of the enzymatic conversion of arginine to citrulline by Nitric oxide synthase. The reaction of NO with superoxide which is often present under conditions of oxidative stress, forms peroxynitrite, a strong oxidant which can nitrosate tyrosine residues on proteins. Nitrotyrosine has been shown to be present in proteins from artherosclerotic lesions of human carotid arteries and also in placenta during pre-eclampsia.
