New chromatography resins available in Chromabolt® pre-packed columns

Chromatography columns are evolving. Within the biopharmaceutical industry, pre-packed columns are becoming a more attractive option, providing significant time savings and facility flexibility. Extensively validated pre-packed columns which use automated equipment to pack resins will result in tighter specifications and tolerances that are significantly more difficult to achieve when using traditional hand-packing methods.

Chromabolt® column packing uses a fully developed in-house automated packing rig. The use of this innovative technology, along with the validation work done with our resins, allows us to achieve a 99.99% success rate in packing Merck resins to within specifications into Chromabolt® columns. This robust manufacturing process not only reduces costs, but itprovides a superior and reproducible product.

Merck works closely with our customers to identify their manufacturing challenges and offer a wide range of chromatography products to solve their problems. We are pleased to announce that three new resins in Chromabolt® prepacked columns are now available. Our current range of pre-packed resins in Chromabolt® columns include: Strong cation exchanger, weak cation exchanger and strong anion exchanger.
