OverviewPotent hypothalamic peptide neurotransmitter. An endogenous anti-psychotic compound that lowers blood pressure, increases vascular permeability, and increases plasma levels of glucagon, glucose, growth hormone and prolactin in rats. A modulator of noradrenergic activity. Heterogeneously distributed in the mammalian central nervous system and has many neurotransmitter-like characteristics.
