Description
OverviewUseful for studies involving adenylate cyclase, AMP, and related membrane-transport phenomena. Consists of a single A subunit surrounded by five polypeptide chains of the B subunits. The A subunit catalyzes the ADP-ribosylation of the α-subunit of G-proteins, reducing intrinsic GTPase activity and activating the α-subunit. The B subunits are responsible for the attachment of the native toxin on the cell surface.
Useful for tissue culture applications.

SolubilityPlease refer to the vial label for lot-specific reconstitution. Note: cholera toxin tends to breakdown into its A and B subunits when the solution is frozen or with vigorous shaking during reconstitution, resulting in damage to the toxin protein and concomitant loss of biological activity. Swirl bottles gently during reconstitution. Avoid vigorous pipetting of solutions that would lead to foaming. Heating of cholera toxin in excess of 40-50°C results in aggregation and subsequent breakdown into its A and B subunits.
