DescriptionAnti-TIF1-alpha Antibody
Alternate Names
  • Transcription intermediary factor 1-alpha
  • E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase TRIM24
  • RING finger protein 82
  • Tripartite motif-containing protein 24
Background InformationTranscription intermediary factor 1-alpha (TIF1-alpha) is also called E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase TRIM24, RING finger protein 82, and Tripartite motif-containing protein 24. TIF1-alpha is a transcriptional coactivator that interacts with chromatin depending on histone H3 modifications, with the highest affinity for histone H3 that is both unmodified at 'Lys-4' (H3K4me0) and acetylated at 'Lys-23' (H3K23ac). TIF1-alpha has E3 protein-ubiquitin ligase activity, helps regulate cell proliferation and apoptosis and up-regulates transcription activation. Aberrant TIF1-alpha can cause thyroid papillary carcinoma (TPC) and is up-regulated in some breast cancers.
