DescriptionAnti-MEOX1 Antibody
Alternate Names
  • mesenchyme homeo box 1
  • mesenchyme homeobox 1
Background InformationMEOX1 (Mesenchyme homobox 1) is a transcription factor that is expressed in the developing mesoderm, and plays a role in the commitment of stem cells to the skeletal muscle lineage. This gene, which encodes a member of a subfamily of non-clustered, diverged homeobox-containing genes, is up-regulated by overexpression of GLI2 and functions upstream of the PAX genes—preferentially interacting with PAX1, over PAX3. More recently, MEOX1 has also been shown to play a role in regulating the proliferation and differentiation pathways of embryonic stem cells through its role as a gate keeper to mesoderm induction and its earliest regional specification, somitogenesis, and myogenic/sclerotomal differentiation.

Key Applications
  • Western Blotting
Application NotesWestern Blotting: Recommended working dilutions are 1:100 – 1:200.
Biological Information
ImmunogenSynthetic MEOX1 peptide, aa. 238-254.
EpitopeC-terminus
ConcentrationPlease refer to the Certificate of Analysis for the lot-specific concentration.
HostRabbit
SpecificityThis antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide selected from human MEOX1 protein.
Species Reactivity
  • Mouse
  • Human
  • Rat
  • Bovine
Species Reactivity NoteReacts with mouse. Comparison of sequence homology suggests that this antibody will also react in human, rat, and bovine; however, reactivity with other species has not been tested.
Antibody TypePolyclonal Antibody
Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryThis gene encodes a member of a subfamily of non-clustered, diverged, antennapedia-like homeobox-containing genes. The encoded protein may play a role in the molecular signaling network regulating somite development. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.
