Application CommentsReacts specifically with natural and recombinant human TNF-α. An approximately 20 µg/ml solution of this antibody has been shown to neutralize 100% of the activity of 0.5 ng/ml recombinant human TNF-α, as measured in the standard L929 cell bioassay. This antibody has also been reported to work for ELISA, frozen sections, immunoblotting, paraffin sections, radioimmunoassay. Endotoxin: ≤5 EU/mg protein as determined by the Biowhittaker Endotect LAL assay. Variables associated with assay conditions will dictate the proper working dilution.

DescriptionRabbit polyclonal antibody purified by ammonium sulfate precipitation. Recognizes recombinant and monocyte-derived TNF-α.
BackgroundHuman Tumor Necrosis Factor α (TNF-α, cachectin) is a cytokine, produced by variety of cell types, that is involved in mediation of the inflammatory response, resistance to infection, and resistance to tumor growth. Human and mouse TNF-α are approximately 79% homologous at the amino acid level and exhibit cross-species reactivity. This antibody recognizes both recombinant and natural human TNF-α and exhibits some (~30%) cross-reactivity with mouse TNF-α. It exhibits only minor (<1%) cross-reactivity with human TNF-β (lymphotoxin).
