Overview
Description
The graded density matrix of Polygard®-CT cartridge filters allows media with two distinct nominal pore size cutoffs to be wrapped into one cartridge. This technique maximizes dirt-holding capacity while affording extremely low differential pressures, offering a long service life.
Polygard-CT filters are manufactured from melt-blown 100% virgin polypropylene to provide wide chemical compatibility. The filters are highly resistant to pressure fluctuations without demonstrating media migration or contaminant unloading.
Polygard-CT filters are manufactured in a facility whose Quality Management System is approved by an accredited registering body to the ISO® 9000 Quality Systems Standard.
Typical Applications
Polygard-CT cartridges are versatile filters designed for a wide range of liquid primary clarification applications. Typical uses include facilities, water pretreatment and primary clarification for beverages, soft drinks and most effluents.
Multiple Formats Available
A full range of filtration areas is available to suit varying application requirements. A variety of connection options are offered for easy adaptation to existing housings.
Small scale filter capsules are available as a selection tool when evaluating several media configurations for use in clarifying process fluids. These devices have been developed to minimize hold-up volume when evaluating multiple media configurations.

| What is the surface area of the Polygard CT and Polygard CR filters? | These depth filters are made of wrapped polypropylene layers. This wrapped filter media creates a filter with no geometric repeating structure, but rather a matrix of tortuous paths through the filter. The filter has a graded density, with larger pores at the outside edge, and has tighter pores at the core. It is not possible to accurately measure the surface area of this matrix. A more useful measurement is to perform trials on a feed solution with a small scale version of the filter, and convert the resulting flow rates and pressure differences to "10 inch filter equivalents". In this way, you can use the actual performance of your feed solution with a particular filter to help size the numbers of filters needed for a large batch. |
