      Control
      • Included free of charge with the antibody is 40 μg of control antigen (lyophilized powder). The stock solution of the antigen can be made up using 100 μL of sterile deionized water. For negative control, preincubate 1 μg of peptide with 1 μg of antibody for one hour at room temperature. Optimal concentrations must be determined by the end user.
PresentationLyophilized from phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 1% BSA, and 0.025% sodium azide as a preservative. Reconstitute with 200 μL of sterile deionized water. Centrifuge antibody preparation before use (10,000 xg for 5 min).

      Applications
ApplicationThis Anti-Kv4.1 Antibody is validated for use in WB for the detection of Kv4.1.
      Key Applications
      • Western Blotting
Application NotesWestern blot: 1:400 using ECL on rat and mouse brain lysate and human SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cell line.

Dilutions should be made using a carrier protein such as BSA (1-3%).

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.

      Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryVoltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels represent the most complex class of voltage-gated ion channels from both functional and structural standpoints. Their diverse functions include regulating neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smooth muscle contraction, and cell volume. Four sequence-related potassium channel genes - shaker, shaw, shab, and shal - have been identified in Drosophila, and each has been shown to have human homolog(s). This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel, voltage-gated, shal-related subfamily, members of which form voltage-activated A-type potassium ion channels and are prominent in the repolarization phase of the action potential. This gene is expressed at moderate levels in all tissues analyzed, with lower levels in skeletal muscle.

      UniProt Number
UniProt SummaryFUNCTION: SwissProt: Q9NSA2 # Pore-forming (alpha) subunit of voltage-gated rapidly inactivating A-type potassium channels. May contribute to I(To) current in heart and I(Sa) current in neurons. Channel properties are modulated by interactions with other alpha subunits and with regulatory subunits.
SIZE: 647 amino acids; 71330 Da
SUBUNIT: Homotetramer or heterotetramer with KCND2 and/or KCND3. Associates with the regulatory subunits KCNIP1, KCNIP2, KCNIP3 and KCNIP4 (By similarity). Interacts with DPP10 (Probable).
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.
TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Widely expressed. Highly expressed in brain, in particular in cerebellum and thalamus; detected at lower levels in the other parts of the brain.
DOMAIN:SwissProt: Q9NSA2 The segment S4 is probably the voltage-sensor and is characterized by a series of positively charged amino acids at every third position.
SIMILARITY: Belongs to the potassium channel family. D (Shal) subfamily.
