      Background InformationEphrin type-B receptor 2 (EphB2) is a receptor tyrosine kinase for ephrin ligands that mediate numerous developmental processes, particularly in the nervous system. Ephrin receptors make up the largest subgroup of the receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) family. EphB2 is critical for embryonic/postnatal development for lateral suprapyramidal blade formation which is in a specific region of the dentate gyrus. EphB2 is expressed in the two main components of the thymus, developing thymocytes, TEC, colorectal cancer, and in the earliest SGZ progenitor cells as they migrate during development and form the dentate gyrus.
