Specific ActivityGF048 produces chemotaxis over a wide concentration range in an assay using rat peritoneal macrophages. Significant chemotaxis was achieved using a concentration of 50-100 ng/mL.
Entrez Gene SummaryMacrophage inflammatory protein-1 is a so-called monokine that is involved in the acute inflammatory state in the recruitment and activation of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (Wolpe et al., 1988 [PubMed 3279154]). Sherry et al. (1988) [PubMed 3058856] demonstrated 2 protein components of MIP1, called by them alpha and beta.[supplied by OMIM]
UniProt Number
UniProt SummaryFUNCTION: SwissProt: P10147 # Monokine with inflammatory and chemokinetic properties. Binds to CCR1, CCR4 and CCR5. One of the major HIV-suppressive factors produced by CD8+ T-cells. Recombinant MIP-1-alpha induces a dose-dependent inhibition of different strains of HIV-1, HIV-2, and simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV).
SIZE: 92 amino acids; 10085 Da
SUBUNIT: Self-associates. Also heterodimer of MIP-1-alpha(4-69) and MIP-1-beta(3-69).
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Secreted.
PTM: N-terminal processed form LD78-alpha(4-69) is produced by proteolytic cleavage after secretion from HTLV1-transformed T- cells.
SIMILARITY: SwissProt: P10147 ## Belongs to the intercrine beta (chemokine CC) family.

Usage Statement
  • Unless otherwise stated in our catalog or other company documentation accompanying the product(s), our products are intended for research use only and are not to be used for any other purpose, which includes but is not limited to, unauthorized commercial uses, in vitro diagnostic uses, ex vivo or in vivo therapeutic uses or any type of consumption or application to humans or animals.
Storage and Shipping Information
Storage ConditionsThe lyophilized powder, though stable at room temperature, is best stored at -20°C. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Further dilutions can be made into other aqueous buffers and stored at 2-8 ºC for 1 week or -20 ºC for future use. Reconstituted rat MIP-1alpha should be stored in undiluted aliquots at -20°C for up to 6 months.
