DescriptionAnti-NIPP-1 Antibody
Alternate Names
  • Nuclear inhibitor of protein phosphatase 1
  • NIPP-1
  • Protein phosphatase 1 regulatory inhibitor subunit 8
  • ARD-1
Background InformationAlso known as ARD1 (Activator of RNA decay), NIPP-1 (nuclear inhibitor of protein phosphatase 1) is a ubiquitously expressed multifunctional nuclear scaffold protein of 39 kDa, which plays an important role in integrating transcription, RNA processing, and cell cycle progression. NIPP-1 serves as a signaling hub in the nucleus. Additionally, NIPP-1 contains at least two binding sites for PP1 and is complexed to about one-third of the nuclear pool of PP1. Normally, the NIPP-1 - PP1 complex is inactive, but can be activated following phosphorylation of NIPP-1 with PKA, CFK2, or Src family kinases. NIPP-1 also interacts directly with nucleic acids and components of polycomb repressive complexe 2 (PRC2) and functions as a PRC2-dependent transcriptional repressor.
