DescriptionAnti-monoglycylated Tubulin Antibody, clone TAP 952
Background InformationSeveral post-translational modifications of tubulin have been identified in eukaryotic cells. Glycylation is a poly-modification which occurs as lateral branching of glycine chains of variable length identified in axonemal tubulin of Paramecium cilia. This modification has been detected on tubulin and/or cilia/flagella of many unicellular and pluricellular organisms. The differential distribution of distinct polyglycylated tubulin isoforms between cytoplasmic and axonemal compartments in Paramecium indicates that the polyglycylation level of tubulin is highly regulated at the cell level. In Paramecium, the TAP 952 antibody is reactive on cytoplasmic and axonemal tubulin. In metazoan cells and/or cell lines, it is specific for tubulin of motile cilia and primary cilia, and thus useful for motile cilia and primary cilia detection.
