Special InstructionsReconstitute the lyophilized antibody with 100 µl sterile distilled H₂O. Resulting reconstituted solution will contain ≤0.1% sodium azide. Be careful to reconstitute the entire contents of the vial; during shipment and handling portions of the lyophilized pellet may have become dislodged and may not be in the bottom of the vial. Dilute with sterile PBS or Tris buffer at dilutions no higher than 1:10. Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-20°C). Stock solutions are stable for up to 6 months at -20°C. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles of solutions.

DescriptionRabbit polyclonal antibody supplied as lyophilized undiluted serum. Recognizes the calbindin D-28K protein.
BackgroundSeveral EF-hand calcium-binding proteins have been identified within the nervous system, which includes calbindin, calretinin, and parvalbumin. These cytosolic calcium-binding proteins modulate and mediate the function of the intracellular second messenger calcium. These proteins are believed to function in the buffering, transport and regulation of calcium. Calbindin, calretinin, and parvalbumin are localized in distinct neuronal subpopulations, and antibodies against these proteins are useful markers for neuranatomical and developmental studies.
