Transcription Factors

Transcription factors are frequently the chief determinants of the composition and stability of large transcription complexes. Transcription factors bind to promoters and enhancers on DNA and help to recruit RNA polymerases to active genes for the production of RNA transcripts. Merck offers a range of monoclonal and polyclonal transcription factor antibodies as well as antibodies against various RNA polymerases, their subunits, and post transcriptional regulation elements.

Backed by peer reviewed publications with proven performance in applications such as Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunocytochemistry, and immunohistochemistry, Merck transcription and post-transcriptional regulation antibodies have helped researchers worldwide advance their research. RNA-Binding Proteins and Modified RNA

RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) interact with double or single stranded RNA. These proteins can be found in the cytoplasm or the nucleous of a cell and interact with a variety of RNAs (mRNA, rRNA, lncRNA snRNA etc.) to form ribonucleoproteins (RNPs) and heteronuclear proteins. (hnRNPs). These RNA-protein complexes play roles in mRNA splicing, polyadenylation, as well as RNA stabilization, localization and translation.

In addition to interacting with a variety of RNA binding proteins, RNA molecules can contain a number of post-transcriptional modifications. Modification such as N6-methyladenosine (m6A) and 5-methylcytidine (5-mC) have been described.

Merck offers a variety of antibodies ideal for the study of RNA binding proteins and modified RNA.
