150 employees from Merck Millipore and Merck Serono participated in the Bike MS: Cape Cod Getaway event as part of team “Reason to Ride”. The two day, 150 mile ride started in Boston and ended in Provincetown, MA, attracting over 2,000 cyclists. This was the ninth year of participation for Merck Serono and Team “Reason to Ride.” As corporate sponsors of the event, employees from Merck Millipore and Merck Serono were encouraged to volunteer at rest stops along the route.

David Beattie, Senior R&D Director at Merck Millipore, has participated in MS Rides for 7 years, and has served as a captain of team “Reason to Ride” for 6 years. “People do this event for so many different reasons, which is how the team got its name,” says David. “I love the camaraderie of my team mates and other riders, the fantastic scenery, superb ride logistics and the amazing support we get from the community and the MS patients who come out to cheer us on. It’s my hope that our fundraising and few hours of hard work in the saddle can bring relief and encouragement to those who struggle every day.”

More than 400,000 people in North America live with MS. As a leading supplier of tools and technologies that support research for many chronic diseases including MS, Merck Millipore is proud to support the National Multiple Scleroses Society.
