DescriptionAnti-IDO (Indoleamine 2,3-Dioxygenase) Antibody, clone 10.1
Alternate Names
  • Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase
  • Indoleamine-pyrrole 2,3-dioxygenase
  • indole 2,3-dioxygenase
  • indoleamine-pyrrole 2,3 dioxygenase
  • IDO1
Background InformationIndoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) is an enzyme that is responsible for converting tryptophan to kynurenines. IDO is expressed by a wide variety of tissues and IDO can be upregulated by interferon gamma. IDO modulates levels of the amino acid tryptophan, which is vital for cell growth, but is also involved in the suppression of the immune response. IDO may be involved in the suppression of the immune response to tumours and blocking the IDO pathway may be a potential target for immunotherapy.

Antibody TypeMonoclonal Antibody
Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryGamma-interferon (IFNG; MIM 147570) has an antiproliferative effect on many tumor cells and inhibits intracellular pathogens such as Toxoplasma and Chlamydia, at least partly because of the induction of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (INDO; EC 1.13.11.42). This enzyme catalyzes the degradation of the essential amino acid L-tryptophan to N-formylkynurenine.[supplied by OMIM]
