Merck’s membrane filtration and/or culture media solutions for bioburden testing won't keep you waiting for the accurate results you need to ensure product safety.
Merck’s membrane filtration technique complies with international standards such as Standard Methods for Examination of Water and Waste Water, US EPA, and EU testing procedures for drinking water. It’s simple: the test sample is filtered through a microporous membrane, allowing the retention of any microbial contamination on top of the membrane. Rinsing removes residues that might inhibit the growth of microorganisms. Once the sample is filtered, nutrient medium is added to promote growth of microorganisms for recovery. For testing non-filterable samples, Merck offers a large selection of culture media of the highest quality.
The EZ product family is a range of membrane filtration products from Merck for performing microbiological analyses.

Granules produce less dust than powdered media, which is beneficial in health and safety terms. Granulated media improve the reproducibility of results by avoiding the decomposition effects that may occur when using powdered media.

Merck provides a complete portfolio of ready-to-use (RTU) culture media for microbiological bioburden testing of non-sterile products in the food and beverages industries. Culture media based on Casein Soy Bean Digest or Sabouraud Dextrose are recommended for the microbial enumeration tests TAMC (total aerobic microbial count) and TYMC (total yeast/molds count).
