Detection: chemiluminescence.
DescriptionRabbit polyclonal antibody adsorbed against non-phosphopeptide corresponding to the immunogen phosphorylation site and a generic phosphotyrosine-containing peptide, followed by immunoaffinity chromatography. Recognizes the ~125 kDa FAK protein phosphorylated at Tyr861.
BackgroundFocal adhesion kinase (FAK) is a non-receptor protein tyrosine kinase that plays a key role in maintaining focal adhesion function and cell survival. It is phosphorylated following growth factor or integrin-mediated cell adhesion stimulation. FAK is localized to focal adhesions through its C-terminal focal adhesion targeting (FAT) domain that acts by binding to paxillin and talin that are associated with the cytoplasmic tails of integrins. Phosphorylation of FAK at Tyr861 by Src promotes this interaction between FAK and integrins.
