A fungal mycotoxin with antibacterial and cytostatic properties. Inhibits cell-free microtubule polymerization in a concentration-dependent manner. Binds covalently to reactive thiol groups of microtubule proteins. A protein prenylation inhibitor that also reduces store-mediated Ca2+ entry into cells and inhibits potassium uptake.
