DescriptionPurified mouse monoclonal antibody generated by immunizing Balb/c mice with the specified immunogen and fusing splenocytes with NS1 mouse myeloma cells. Recognizes granulocyte colony stimulating factor.
BackgroundGranulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) belongs to a family of hemopoietic growth factors controlling the survival, proliferation, differentiation and function of granulocytes, macrophages and their precursors. Other members of the family include interleukin-3 or multi-CSF, granulocyte-macrophage-CSF (GM-CSF) and macrophage-CSF (CSF-1). G-CSF was first described as a factor that induces differentiation in a murine myelomonocytic cell line WEHI-3BD and this observation was later confirmed using purified G-CSF. Murine and human G-CSF bind equally well to the receptors of either species and show complete biological cross-reactivity. Biochemically, human G-CSF is a hydrophobic glycoprotein of 19,000 molecular weight with a disperse range of isoelectric points (pI 5.5-6.1) due to glycosylation. The sequence of human cDNA clones isolated by two independent research groups differ only in the presence or absence of a sequence encoding 3 amino acid residues and shows a high degree of homology with murine G-CSF. The origin of the two mRNA species was latter identified as an alternative splice junction at the end of exon 2.
