DescriptionAnti-Centrin Antibody, clone 20H5
Alternate Names
  • Caltractin isoform 2
  • EF-hand protein
  • calcium binding protein
  • centrin 1
  • centrin, EF-hand protein, 1
Background InformationCentrin is a key regulator of centriole duplication. This protein is localized to the centrosome of interphase cells. During mitosis, centrin redistributes to the spindle poles, consistent with dynamic changes of the centrosome during the cell cycle. Current research suggests centrin exerts spatial and temporal control over centriole duplication through its role as a component of centriole precursor structures and through periodic cell-cycle specific changes in its abundance.

Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryThe protein encoded by this gene plays important roles in the determination of centrosome position and segregation, and in the process of microtubule severing. This encoded protein is localized to the centrosome of interphase cells, and redistributes to the region of the spindle poles during mitosis, reflecting the dynamic behavior of the centrosome during the cell cycle.
Gene Symbol
  • CEN1
  • CETN
  • Centrin-1
Purification MethodProtein G Purified
