Our cell culture media milling technology in DarmstadtIssue: June 20, 2013

![]() As everyone knows, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. That's why at Merck, we value the quality of raw materials and good formulation so highly. Stable, reliable production processes are vital too – for instance when manufacturing mammalian cell culture media – and are only possible with modern technologies. So when quality, formulation, and production process form a unit, there are no weak links in the chain. More specifically, we use a special milling technology to ensure consistent quality. At our site in Darmstadt, we can even process raw materials that are sensitive to temperature and oxidization. The advantages? Sensitive components like vitamin B12 stay intact. What's more, in terms of particle size and distribution, the homogeneous media that are produced ensure high batch-to-batch consistency on pilot and production scales. To safeguard the consistent quality of our cell culture media, we use a wide range of analytical methods on site, such as fingerprint methods or NIR (near infra-red spectroscopy). Using your recipe, we can design the best manufacturing process to make sure your cell culture delivers constant results. For more information, please click here In This Same Issue: |
