BackgroundGlucose transporter-3 (Glut-3) is a transmembrane protein that facilitates transport of glucose in the cell in an energy-independent fashion. Glut-3 is believed to be the major neuronal glucose transporter. The tissue distribution of human Glut-3 protein appears to be primarily restricted to the brain and testis/spermatozoa.
