DescriptionAnti-Ras-related protein Ral-A Antibody
Alternate Names
  • RAS-like protein A
  • Ras family small GTP binding protein RALA
  • Ras-related protein Ral-A
  • ras related v-ral simian leukemia viral oncogene homolog A
  • v-ral simian leukemia viral oncogene homolog A (ras related)
Background InformationRalA and RalB are Ras-family small monomeric GTPases that can be activated through a Ras-dependent mechanism. The two are highly homologous (89%). Ral proteins are proximal effectors of oncogenic Ras and their activity is needed to support tumorigenesis in certain cancers. Mutants of Ras that are defective in activating all known Ras effectors except Ral GEF are still able to induce invasive phenotypes in transfected cells, suggesting a role for Ral in these processes. RalA is required for anchorage-independent proliferation and tumorigeneisis by driving exocyst assembly and polarized exocytosis in epithelial cells.

Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryThe product of this gene belongs to the small GTPase superfamily, Ras family of proteins. GTP-binding proteins mediate the transmembrane signaling initiated by the occupancy of certain cell surface receptors. This gene encodes a low molecular mass ras-like GTP-binding protein that shares about 50% similarity with other ras proteins. [provided by RefSeq].
Gene Symbol
  • RAL
  • RALA
Purification MethodAffinity Purfied
UniProt Number
UniProt SummarySUBUNIT STRUCTURE; Interacts with RALBP1 via its effector domain. Interacts with EXOC8 and EXOC2. EXOC2 and EXOC8 have overlapping binding sites and compete for RALA binding. Interacts with Clostridium exoenzyme C3. Interacts with RALGPS1.

SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor; Cytoplasmic side Potential.
