DescriptionImmunoaffinity purified rabbit polyclonal antibody. Recognizes both the ~55 kDa nonglycosylated and the ~70 kDa glycosylated forms of angiopoietin-2.
BackgroundAngiopoietin (Ang-2) is a recently identified secreted protein that may act as an antagonist for Ang-1 and Tie-2. Ang-1 and Ang-2 have ~60% sequence homology. Ang-2 expression is abundant in the dorsal aorta and major aortic branches. Ang-2 transcripts in fetal liver are restricted to cells at the lumen of hepatic vessels. In adults, Ang-2 is prominently expressed in tissues that may undergo vascular remodeling (ovary, placenta, and uterus).
