      Description
OverviewIron chelating agent. Completely protects against dopamine-induced cell death. Has also been shown to interfere with hydroxyl radical formation, which mediates tissue damage in several disease states. Shows anti-proliferative effect on vascular smooth muscle cells in vitro and in vivo. Can also inhibit the oxidative chemistry of peroxynitrite by reaction of the hydroxamic acid moieties with trans-peroxynitrous acid.
