DescriptionAnti-Flavivirus Group Antigen Antibody, clone D1-4G2-4-15
      Alternate Names
      • Flavivirus antigen
Background InformationThe family Flaviviridae includes a wide variety of enveloped viruses that infect both arthropods and vertebrates. Flaviviruses are positive, single-stranded enveloped RNA viruses. They are found mainly in ticks and mosquitoes and can occasionally infect humans. Flaviviruses contain a positive-sense single-stranded RNA genome (10.7 kb) that is transcribed into a single polyprotein precursor that encodes three structural proteins, the capsid (C), pre-membrane (prM), and envelope (E) proteins, and seven nonstructural proteins. The flavivirus E glycoprotein is shown to be essential for membrane fusion and binding to cellular receptors. Flaviviruses caused diseases include Yellow Fever, Dengue Fever, Japanese encephalitis, West Nile viruses, Zika virus, and are also responsible for encephalitis and hemorrhagic diseases. Clone D1-4G2-4-15 binds to flavivirus group antigen and targets an epitope in the fusion loop at the extremity of domain II of E protein. This epitope is shown to be highly conserved amongst Flaviviridae family members. This clone is sensitive to beta-mercaptoethanol treatment and loses its binding to all four E proteins under reducing conditions. (Ref.: Lai, C.Y., et al., (2008). J. Virol. 82(13); 6631-6643; Crill, WD., and Chang, GJJ (2004). J. Virol. 78(24); 13975-13986).
