Description
OverviewGENAPOL® Detergents are polyglycol ethers with the general formula R-CH2-O-(CH2CH2O)nH, where n = the number of ethylene oxides. These detergents have been purified for the isolation of membrane proteins (cloud point: 82°C in H2O; HLB number: 13-14). They can be used in protocols that require UV monitoring of the solubilized proteins because of their low UV absorbance. Since several investigators have reported problems associated with peroxide and aldehyde impurities in polyoxyethylene detergents, these GENAPOL® Detergents have been additionally purified to reduce levels of contaminating peroxides, aldehydes, metals, and salts (aldehyde concentration: <200 µM; peroxide concentration: <200 µM; conductivity: <50 µmhos).
