A naturally-occurring rare amino acid derivative isolated from Leucaena seeds. An extremely effective inhibitor of DNA replication in mammalian cells that may act by preventing the formation of replication forks. Inhibits the activity of mitochondrial and cytosolic serine hydroxymethyltransferases.
