  • Chemicon
DescriptionAnti-Tubulin Antibody, beta, clone KMX-1
Alternate Names
  • Tubulin beta-III
  • tubulin, beta 3
  • tubulin, beta 4
Background InformationMicrotubules are constituent parts of the mitotic apparatus, cilia, flagella, and elements of the cytoskeleton. They consist principally of 2 soluble proteins, alpha- and beta-tubulin, each of about 55,000 kDa. Antibodies against beta Tubulin are useful as loading controls for Western Blotting. However it should be noted that levels of beta Tubulin may not be stable in certain cells. For example, expression of tubulin in adipose tissue is very low and therefore beta Tubulin should not be used as loading control for these tissues.

Applications
ApplicationThis Anti-Tubulin Antibody, beta, clone KMX-1 is validated for use in IC, WB for the detection of Tubulin.
Key Applications
  • Immunocytochemistry
  • Western Blotting
Application NotesImmunocytochemistry:
A 1-2 μg/mL concentration of a previous lot was used in immunocytochemistry.

Western blot:
0.05-0.5 μg/mL

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user.
Biological Information
ImmunogenTubulin purified from polycephalum myxamoebae
CloneKMX-1
ConcentrationPlease refer to the Certificate of Analysis for the lot-specific concentration.
HostMouse
SpecificityThis antibody reacts specifically with β-tubulin and shows a strong cross-reactivity to different species. This antibody allows staining of microtubuli using indirect immunofluorescence showing a low background only.
