  • EPH-related receptor tyrosine kinase ligand 5
  • LERK-5
  • HTK ligand

Background InformationEphrin-B2 is also called EPH-related receptor tyrosine kinase ligand 5 (LERK-5) and HTK ligand (HTK-L). Ephrin-B2 is a cell surface transmembrane ligand for the Eph tyrosine kinase family of receptors. Ephrin-B2 binds Eph receptors on adjacent cells, leading to contact-dependent bidirectional signaling, which is critical for migration, repulsion and adhesion during neuronal, vascular and epithelial development. Ephrin-B2 is expressed in lung and kidney and together with EPHB4 is involved in heart morphogenesis and angiogenesis.
