DescriptionAnti-CCDC53 Antibody
Alternate Names
  • coiled-coil domain containing 53
  • Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 53
  • WASH complex subunit CCDC53
Background InformationCoiled-coil domain-containing protein 53 (CCDC53) is one of several components comprising the WASH complex, a complex localized to endosomal surfaces that functions to upregulate actin polymerization through the recruiting and activation of Arp2/3 complex. WASH is a critical component in the fission of tubules (transport intermediates involved in the distribution of endosomes). The WASH complex is composed of CCDC53, F-actin-capping protein subunits alpha and beta, WASH, FAM21, KIAA1033, and KIAA196.

UniProt SummaryFUNCTION: Component of the WASH complex, a complex present at the surface of endosomes that recruits and activates the Arp2/3 complex to induce actin polymerization. The WASH complex plays a key role in the fission of tubules that serve as transport intermediates during endosome sorting.

SUBUNIT STRUCTURE: Component of the WASH complex, composed of F-actin-capping protein subunit alpha (CAPZA1, CAPZA2 or CAPZA3), F-actin-capping protein subunit beta (CAPZB), WASH (WASH1, WASH2P, WASH3P, WASH4P, WASH5P or WASH6P), FAM21 (FAM21A, FAM21B or FAM21C), KIAA1033, KIAA0196 and CCDC53.
