Tryptone Glucose Extract Broth is widely used for the enumeration of heterotrophic bacteria in water quality testing, dairy product analysis, and microbial monitoring in beverages. It is also applied in bioburden testing across clinical, cosmetic, environmental, food and beverage, and industrial quality control. Additionally, it is utilized for detecting thermophilic bacteria in milk and dairy products to identify heat-resistant microorganisms.

General description

Tryptone Glucose Extract Broth is a non-selective microbiological medium designed for the detection and enumeration of total heterotrophic microorganisms in water, dairy products, and other liquids such as beer, bottled water, cider, soft drinks, sport drinks, and wine. It is available as a dehydrated powder and contains tryptone and yeast extract, which provide essential nitrogenous and carbonaceous compounds, amino acids, and vitamin B complex for microbial growth. Glucose serves as the primary energy source. The medium has a pH of 7.0 ± 0.2 at 25°C and is compatible with various filtration methods.
