Background InformationLeukocyte antigen CD37 (UniProt P11049; also known as CD37, Tetraspanin-26, Tspan-26) is encoded by the CD37 (also known as TSPAN26) gene (Gene ID 951) in human. CD37 is a 4-transmembrane (a.a. 18-38, 60-74, 86-111, 242-266) tetraspanin superfamily member with both its N- and C-terminal ends exposed cytoplasmically (a.a. 1-17, 267-281). While most tetraspanins are ubiquitously expressed, CD37 is predominently expressed on antigen-presenting cells, with highest expression on B lymphocytes. CD37 is essential for B cell survival and Cd37-/- mice showed greatly reduced IgG-secreting plasma cells in lymphoid organs due to increased apoptosis in the spleen germinal centers, where B cells proliferate. On the other hand, CD37 is also found to play a negative role against T cell proliferation, macrophages interleukin-6 production, and dendritic cells (DCs) antigen presentation.

      Applications
ApplicationAnti-CD37 Antibody, clone MB-1 is an antibody against CD37 for use in Flow Cytometry, Immunohistochemistry, Immunoprecipitation.
      Key Applications
      • Flow Cytometry
      • Immunohistochemistry
      • Immunoprecipitation
Application NotesFlow Cytometry Analysis: A representative lot immunostained the B cell population in isolated normal human tonsil cells (Link, M.P., et al. (1986). J. Immunol. 137(9):3013-3018).
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A representative lot detected MB-1 antigen-expressing B cells in acetone-fixed frozen normal human tonsil sections as well as lymph node sections from a patient with follicular small cleaved cell lymphoma (Link, M.P., et al. (1986). J. Immunol. 137(9):3013-3018).
Immunoprecipitation Analysis: A representative lot immunoprecipitated the 42 kDa CD37 from a Prolymphocytic Leukemia (PLL) patient-derived tumor cell lysates (Link, M.P., et al. (1986). J. Immunol. 137(9):3013-3018).
      Biological Information
ImmunogenLymph node cells from a lymphoma patient.

      HostMouse
SpecificityMB-1 antigen is found on all normal immunoglobulin (Ig)-expressing cells, but not on T cells, thymocytes, granulocytes, or platelets. MB-1 antigen is expressed late in B cell ontogeny before the expression of SIg (Link, M.P., et al. (1986). J. Immunol. 137(9):3013-3018).
